Holiday Martini

One more drink before the New Year - this would be a delicious drink to ring it in!!

I'm loving all of the new vodka flavors - it seems there's a new one every time I go to the liquor store! I saw Smirnoff Iced Cake vodka, recently, and knew that it would be delicious on ice cream - it IS! - and I also wanted to find an easy drink recipe.

2 oz. Bailey's Hazelnut Flavor Liquer
.5 oz. Smirnoff Iced Cake Flavored Vodka
1 sprinkle nutmeg

Shake and strain into a martini glass - sprinkle with nutmeg.

                                                                                CHEERS!

EggNog

I was feeling the holiday spirit when I was in the grocery store and decided eggnog needed to be added to the menu! No, it's not a side dish, it's kind of a dessert - the calories alone .... but so worth it! Southern Comfort EggNog is, probably, the best tasting nog I've tried so far. According to Facebook (I love Google!) - it's the best EggNog on the planet!!

Instead of adding Southern Comfort to it, I used rum and brandy - I add about 2/3 of a shot of both, you don't want to get carried away! I also sprinkle nutmeg on the top - as you can see, I get a little heavy-handed with it! I stir in the nutmeg (after the photo shoot) - a delicious addition to any holiday meal!!

                                                                                Cheers!

Musho's Fresas Mojito

A lightly sweet drink - tastes great on a hot summers night!

3-4 lime wedges, to taste
1-2 strawberries, to taste
10 mint leaves
1 oz. simple syrup
1 1/2 oz. light rum, preferably Bacardi Superior
Soda water

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the lime wedges, strawberries and mint leaves.
Add the simple syrup and rum - shake.
Pour into a glass 1/2 filled with ice - top with soda water.
Serve immediately.

* Simple syrup is equal parts sugar and water heated until the sugar dissolves to form a syrup.

                                                                       CHEERS!

Texas Slush

I almost had an *alcohol emergency* when I decided to make this drink - I couldn't find the recipe!! But, after much searching and a few calls to my sisters, I found the treasured recipe .... whew, emergency diverted!

I can remember my Mom, and even my Grandmother, serving this drink to lucky guests.

This is a wonderful summer slush, but drink slowly since it is has quite a kick!!

1 lg lemonade and 1 small lemonade concentrate
2 small limeade concentrates
1/4 cup white corn syrup
1/5th vodka (3.17 cups)
2 quarts water

Mix all ingredients - freeze and serve.                     CHEERS!

* I can remember the tiny version of lemonade/limeade, but haven't seen them in the stores for years. I use 1/3 of a container of lemonade and 2/3 of a container of limeade as a substitute. Mix the rest of the lemonade/limeade in a container (add about 1 can water per 1/3 of the concentrate) for the kids!

Mango Sunrise

I found this recipe in Forbes magazine and loved that it sounded refreshing, and I would finally have a reason to try mango juice! Well, I picked up mango smoothie instead (my bad) but, it's quite good! I will try it another time with mango juice, but try this recipe - it's yummy!

2 oz. tequila
6 oz. mango juice
1 oz. grenadine
slices of orange for garnish
a few ice cubes (if needed)

                                                                             Cheers!

the Suntan

This drink was inspired by the fact that I was looking for a drink that had Bailey's in it and something else I had in my liquor cabinet!!
Found it! It's called Suntan #2 - no explanation came along with the recipe, but it's delicious and getting close to suntan season!

1 oz Malibu Coconut Rum
1 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
                                                                                     Cheers!

the Cape Codder

Or the Cape Cod. You have to say it like you're from New England, so I call it the Cape Cadder. It's also great for those of you that need a little extra cranberry in your diet  ;)

All you need is vodka, cranberry juice & a slice or 2 of lime - it's a light, delicious drink that's just right for any night!

Cheers!

When Life Gives You Lemons - Add Vodka!!

I'm going to start a new weekly entry called Friday Drinks. I love trying new drinks - a fun cocktail, a good beer, a fancy wine..... You get the idea.

Lemonade screams sunshine, flip flops, water guns & laughter - what about the adults??
When I make lemonade for the boys, I make myself the "Mommy version" & add a shot of vodka! Any vodka works, but raspberry vodka is the best!!
                                                              Cheers!

Is It Time For a Drink?

I'm always on the look out for a new drink to enjoy - I often mix, blend or shake, but this one is best on the rocks.
Amarula is a cream liqueur made with fruit from the Marula tree. It's a tree that only grows on the plains of Africa, and its fruit is often enjoyed by elephants, which munch away on the berries whenever they get a chance. The berries are known to drive elephants a bit mad because they can ferment a bit after lying on the ground. The Marula fruit is also legendary for its aphrodisiac properties!
According to the bottle, Amarula offers a "captivating and exotic" flavor, offering hints of caramel, chocolate and vanilla - there was a bit of a butterscotch flavor, too.

                                                                                          Cheers!
