I want to start off by saying thank you to Lori Anderson of Pretty Things for pulling off the herculean task of the Bead Soup Blog Party - hats off to you, applause, *curtsey*. I have been an admirer and follower of hers for a while now, and have always enjoyed her wit, wisdom and advice that she offers.
I didn't receive my bead soup until Wednesday afternoon, so needless to say, I was panicking!!
My bead soup partner, Dee Wingrove-Smith, sent me a package with lovely little flowers, leaves and colorful beads and a butterfly - the clasp is even a sweet little flower. Go to Dee's blog to see what she made with her soup!
I wanted to make a pair of earrings with a cascade of flowers, and came up with these earrings. I even added a couple of flowers from my own stash that match perfectly with the beads from my "soup".
After that I was stuck, so out came the books and magazines for inspiration, motivation, illumination and any more -tions you can think of.....
I knew I wanted to make a simple necklace with a copper leaf I recently bought. All of the beads came from Dee and I used a my own copper daisy spacer a chain.
I then wanted to make a lush flower, leaf, bead mix using the sweet flower clasp and butterfly. I used some of the lavender silk sari ribbon I recently received from Mudhound Studio.
I greatly admire anyone who likes to make these kinds of necklaces - I never realized how much work goes into them!
I'm happy that I was able to make three pieces with the short time I had the beads. I still want to make a bracelet with the leftover beads, but will save that for another day!

ReplyDeleteGreat job.
Such pretty and romantic jewellery! Love the colours in the earrings. Fab job -- especially considering how little time you got to actually design and create all of this!
ReplyDeleteI too am late it is Monday and I am only 1/4 of the way down the list;
ReplyDeleteYour design is nothing short of awesome. Love the colors: Be Blessed to be a blessingRefreshing

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pieces you made with your soup! I love the colors, and the sari silk adds so much richness to the designs. My favorite is the butterfly necklace with all the danglies! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job - and can't believe you made all three of those pieces and photographed and posted in just2 days! Wow.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I can't believe that you 'threw' those together in 2 days. They are all so perfect.
ReplyDeleteI have to echo everyone else and tell you how impressive it is that you made those in just a couple of days! I love the cluster effect in the second one and the sari silk really sets it all off! Very opulent looking!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! Very romantic looking pieces.
ReplyDeleteWell, I wish I could say, oh that one's my favorite, but...they all are! Love that lush cascade of flowers on the earrings, and the simplicity of the leaf necklace ensures it will be worn..a lot! The sari silk I think keeps the last one from being too formal or dramatic, and yet provides a richness all on its' own. I'd love to know where you got the crimps for it. I've been looking for some wide ones like that. You really did a wonderful job on these pieces!
ReplyDeleteI love those colors & love how you accomplished your objective to make a lush piece. It's totally that! All of those pieces are wonderful. Way to go!!
ReplyDeleteYou obviously work well under pressure! Such a great cohesive group, love the colors!

ReplyDeleteWOW! Great job, you wouldn't know you had so little time to make these wonderful pieces. Love Mudhound's sari silk, use it a lot. The lavender is scrumptious. Thanks for swinging by my party! Riki
ReplyDeleteDesigning with flowers are always a big bonus for me. You did an excellent job with your pieces. I love the fringe flower earrings!
ReplyDeleteYou did all this in only a few days?! You must be a whirlwind. I adore the earrings and would so wear the pendant with the dangles and lilac ribbon.
ReplyDeleteThat sari ribbon necklace is fabulous, and I love the dangly flower earrings!
ReplyDeletevery very beautiful, love them

ReplyDeleteOh wow! I love how all 3 of the pieces turned out! I really like the little tied piece of ribbon on the leaf necklace. I never would have thought to do something like that.
ReplyDeleteYour first necklace is nice but your second is like an incredibly rich and scrumptious desert!! Love the colors and the feel with the sari silk. It has a real victorian feel, so romantic and elegant!!
ReplyDeleteI cant believe how quickly you did your pieces. I really like all of them, I like the first necklace with the big leaf pendant. And I really like the second necklace with all the dangles grouped together. Great work!
ReplyDeleteIt feels like spring! Lush colors, florals, a bunch of blossoms... Nicely done!

xxxox Manuela
The ribbon is really great, such a nice color. Great job.
ReplyDeleteVery lush, yet so soft and feminine. I am so glad your soup arrived in time enough to participate!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and the beautiful fiber!!! Interesting that you would photograph those pieces on sheet music, because the first I thought of was how lovely the earrings and necklace must sound when you're wearing them!!! =D Beautiful!
ReplyDeletePressed leaves and flowers are some of my favourite beads so your earrings are a real winner with me. Of course, it doesn't hurt that they are also in my favourite colour! All your pieces are beautiful but the earrings really get my vote!
ReplyDeleteThe earrings are so nice! The colours, the cascade effect... I love them. And what about all those dangles in the silk sari necklace? Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAmbra
Such pretty pieces!
ReplyDeleteWow Christine! I would say you work really well uncdre pressure! That cascading necklace and earrings are GORGEOUS!
