Back to Jewelry.......

I not quite sure why I haven't felt like making jewelry for awhile - some people talk of their muse - I'm not sure if it's that or just plain laziness! I think I just needed a break from over-scheduling and wanted to spend more time with my 4 boys!!!!

Here a few of my recent pieces...........................

                                                                                 Turquoise Howlite

Copper with vintage pearls & Swarovski

Both bracelets are made with a quartz slice, Botswana agate & chrysocolla - I even made one for myself!

Bead Soup Blog Party is Here

I want to start off by saying thank you to Lori Anderson of Pretty Things for pulling off the herculean task of the Bead Soup Blog Party - hats off to you, applause, *curtsey*. I have been an admirer and follower of hers for a while now, and have always enjoyed her wit, wisdom and advice that she offers.

I didn't receive my bead soup until Wednesday afternoon, so needless to say, I was panicking!!

My bead soup partner, Dee Wingrove-Smith, sent me a package with lovely little flowers, leaves and colorful beads and a butterfly - the clasp is even a sweet little flower. Go to Dee's blog to see what she made with her soup!

I wanted to make a pair of earrings with a cascade of flowers, and came up with these earrings. I even added a couple of flowers from my own stash that match perfectly with the beads from my "soup".

After that I was stuck, so out came the books and magazines for inspiration, motivation, illumination and any more -tions you can think of.....

I knew I wanted to make a simple necklace with a copper leaf I recently bought. All of the beads came from Dee and I used a my own copper daisy spacer a chain.

I then wanted to make a lush flower, leaf, bead mix using the sweet flower clasp and butterfly. I used some of the lavender silk sari ribbon I recently received from Mudhound Studio.
I greatly admire anyone who likes to make these kinds of necklaces - I never realized how much work goes into them!

I'm happy that I was able to make three pieces with the short time I had the beads. I still want to make a bracelet with the leftover beads, but will save that for another day!

Total Treasures Blog Hop

Amy at Copper Diem had the brilliant idea to take a screenshot of an Etsy treasury & use as inspiration to make a piece of jewelry.

Here's what she sent me - all the pretty colors

I really enjoyed the challenge because these are not NOT colors I'm used to using!

Here's what I came up with. I really like how they turned out & will have to start using these colors more!!

Chrysocolla & Washer Earrings

I've been experimenting with many different materials this summer to make fun jewelry. I have tried several different designs with washers because you can pick up a bag of them at the hardware store for a couple of dollars. I have these beautiful faceted chrysocolla beads & wrapped them at the end of the bottom washer to give it a little glam.

I love how they turned out!!

NEW Turquoise Earrings

I made a small change to my turquoise earrings & I like them soooooo much better. I moved the Swarovski crystal to a longer copper chain & it dangles between the 2 green turquoise nuggets.

You can check out the original design here - not much different, but so much cuter!!

Green Turquoise Earrings

I Love turquoise & that its color varies from blue to green makes it a beautiful stone to work with. It's one of the oldest stones known & is also known for its strength, protection from harm, physic sensitivity & connection to the spirit world.

I used copper components w/green turquoise nuggets & Swarovski Moonlight crystals.
